Heat treatment and metallographic structure
EN 38 Heat treatment specification: The heat treatment process of oil quenching at 840 ~ 860ºC + tempering at 520 ~ 590ºC is usually used to obtain the required structure and properties.
EN 38 Metallographic structure: martensite after quenching; Tempered sorbite after quenching and tempering at high temperature.
Characteristics: EN 38 steel plate has high hardenability, and can obtain uniform strength, high plasticity, toughness, fatigue strength, low cold brittleness transition temperature and notch sensitivity on a large cross-section after quenching and tempering. The machinability is medium, but the cold deformation plasticity and weldability are poor.

6. EN 38 production process
