Renney-urushbara Ni is a kind of highly active alkaline Renney-Urushbara Ni.
Preparation method: In the reactor of more than 5L, add 50g nickel containing 30-50% nickel aluminum alloy and 500ml distilled water, under constant agitation, add solid sodium hydroxide (do not need to cool). When sodium hydroxide is initially added, there is an induction period of about 0.5-1 minutes (at this point, no reaction), and then the reaction becomes very intense. Sodium hydroxide is added at a rate and quantity that maintains the reaction boiling vigorously without spilling out of the container. When adding sodium hydroxide to about 80g, continue to add and no longer react, stop adding alkali. Let stand for 10 minutes and then heat in a 70ºC water bath for 30 minutes. Spongy nickel sinks to the bottom of the bottle. Pour out the supernatant and wash it 2-3 times by pour out method under shaking. Then wash two or three times with the solvent used in hydrogenation. If the solvent used in hydrogenation is not miscible with water, an appropriate intersolvent such as alcohol can be used for washing. This type of catalyst is best made on the spot as it will cause a decrease in activity.
Commercially available are nickel-aluminum powder or Rennie nickel which is activated. There are 2 yuan of alloy powder (only containing nickel aluminum), 3 yuan of nickel aluminum molybdenum, 4 yuan of nickel aluminum ferrochrome, 5 yuan of nickel aluminum molybdenum ferrochrome, the effect of different reactions is not the same. In terms of cost, the use of alloy powder is slightly lower, but the pressure of environmental protection is great, and the cost of wastewater treatment is also rising. In this sense, it is more economical to buy the activated powder directly. I hope it was helpful.
