7021 aluminum is a 7000-series aluminum alloy: the main alloying addition is zinc and it is formulated for primary forming into wrought products. Cited properties are appropriate for the T6 temper. To achieve this temper, the metal is solution heat-treated and artificially aged until it meets standard mechanical property requirements. 7021 is the Aluminum Association (AA) designation for this material. In European standards, it will be given as EN AW-7021. Additionally, the EN chemical designation is AlZn5,5Mg1,5. And the UNS number is A97021.
It originally received its standard designation in 1976.
The graph bars on the material properties cards below compare 7021 aluminum to: 7000-series alloys (top), all aluminum alloys (middle), and the entire database (bottom). A full bar means this is the highest value in the relevant set. A half-full bar means it's 50% of the highest, and so on.
