Key Specifications/Special Features:
Description:
Special structural steel
Applications:
Special purpose production
Parts of larger cross-sections where higher toughness is demanded, for gears, crankshafts
Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature:
Modulus of elasticity: 210103 x N/mm2
Density: 7.80g/cm3
Soft annealing:
Heat to 620 to 660oC, cool slowly in furnace
This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 255
Intermediate annealing:
Temperature: 600 to 630oC
Carburizing:
Temperature: 860 to 890oC
Hardening:
Harden from a temperature of 780 to 810oC followed by oil quenching or thermal bath at 180 to 220oC
Tempering:
Tempering temperature: 150 to 180oC
Forging:
Hot forming temperature: 1050 to 850oC
