Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanxi Jinghao Science and Technology Co., LTD., Baotou Rare Earth Research Institute, Hunan Rare Earth Metal Materials Research Institute, Youyan Rare Earth New Materials Co., LTD., Leshan Youyan Rare Earth New Materials Co., LTD., Samarium Magnesium Alloy, the industry standard XB/T408-2021 jointly drafted by Ganzhou Chenguang Rare Earth New Materials Co., LTD., Non-Ferrous Metal Technical and Economic Research Institute Co., LTD., Taiyuan Institute of Technology, Jinzhong University and Taiyuan Huayintai Alloy Co., LTD., has been officially implemented on April 1, 2022.
This standard specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marks, packaging, transportation, storage and quality certificate of samarium magnesium alloys. This standard applies to samarium magnesium alloys produced by fusion process, which is mainly used as an additive for rare earth magnesium alloys used in the production of thin wall 3C electronic products as well as automotive engine cylinder blocks, heat resistant parts of transmission housing and die-casting parts for intelligent robots.

With the increasing demand for high-performance magnesium alloy in transportation, electronic products, aerospace, military and other fields, the downstream magnesium alloy products put forward higher requirements for the quality and performance of raw materials. As an important additive element to improve the properties of magnesium alloys, the demand of rare earth samarium is increasing year by year. The release of the Samarium Magnesium Alloy standard can provide standardized technical support for the Samarium magnesium alloy product market, so as to exert a positive influence on the large-scale production of high strength and high toughness, corrosion resistance and high temperature creep resistance magnesium alloy products in the downstream, and expand its application field.
The drafting unit of this standard, Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been responsible for and participated in the formulation of several standards in recent years, including cerium magnesium alloy, yttrium magnesium alloy, lanthanum-cerium magnesium alloy, Samarium magnesium alloy, neodymium magnesium alloy and so on.
The invention discloses a new yttrium samarium magnesium alloy and a preparation method thereof. The alloy prepared is composed of the following components by weight percentage: rare earth element Y:2.0%~3%, rare earth element Sm:2.0%~3.0%, Zn:1.5%~2.5%, Zr:0.5%~0.8%, the allowance is magnesium and trace impurities, and the sum of the percentage of components is 1 00%. The preparation method is through gas protection melting and after a certain heat treatment process, its room temperature tensile strength, yield strength and elongation and other mechanical properties, has a more economical cost, can be used in mass production.
