Cobalt-based superalloy GH5188 haynes 188
GH5188 is a cobalt-nichchromium tungsten alloy designed for high temperature strength and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1095 degrees Celsius, with a small amount of lanthanum added to provide a very protective oxide peel.

application
Although primarily used in the aerospace industry, the alloy has been used in commercial industrial applications, including land-based gas turbines. The hot part of the engine usually found in the burner tank, piping, and afterburner components.
Alloy 188 combines excellent high-temperature strength with excellent resistance to oxidation environments up to 1100ºC and thermal corrosion by sulfate deposition. Alloy 188 has excellent forming properties and can be forged, hot worked or cold worked, although its work hardening rate is very fast, so frequent intermediate annealing is recommended for complex forming operations.
The combination of good manufacturability and weldability makes Alloy 188 suitable for a variety of applications, especially in gas turbine components such as burners, flame retainers, linings and transition pipes.
